As the company keeps pumping out new models with updated technology, it’s time to revisit what Dyson has to offer and compare the V10 and V11 models. We’re going to get into the nitty-gritty details and differences here in a second, but just know as we go along that you’ll be happy with either of these vacuum cleaners.

While there are a few different models available across the V10 and V11 lineups, they all share some of the same great features and benefits.
For example, they’re all less than 7 pounds, offer up to 60 minutes of run time on a single charge, and whole-machine filtration to keep the air in your home as clean as possible. Dyson V10 vs Dyson V11 Comparison
Dyson V10 Cordless Vacuum
When we reviewed the Dyson V10 last year, there were three models offered. However, at this time, only the V10 Absolute and the V10 Animal remain available as options. Both of these are cordless stick vacuums that are powered by the digital V10 motor, which uses 14 cyclones to generate extreme suction power that will suck up microscopic particles you’d never see.
While it’s sucking all of these tiny particles up, the whole-machine filtration system is designed to trap 99.99% of everything it captures, down to 0.3 microns in diameter. This helps keep the air in your home fresh and clean and is part of the reason that the V10 is certified by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America. In short, the V10 is a powerful vacuum that will keep your home clean, fresh, and safe to breathe.

The big kicker here between the two models is that the Absolute comes with two cleaner heads so you can quickly swap between sweeping up your hardwood floors and cleaning your carpeted rooms in a flash. The Animal only comes with the Motorbar cleaner head for your carpets. Additionally, the Absolute has a few extra accessories that the Animal does not come with.
When it comes to price, the V10 Absolute is seen as a top-end model and is typically $599.99, but is often marked down on Dyson’s website for $499.99. The V10 Animal is $549.99. For the extra cleaner head and four additional tools and accessories, the Absolute is the better option, especially when it actually costs less!
Dyson V11 Cordless Vacuum
As you can probably guess by the numbering scheme, the V11 is largely considered the upgraded version of the V10 cordless stick vacuum and also comes in two models: V11 Complete and V11 Extra. It shares a similar design to its predecessor, with the same inline bin for point-and-shoot emptying, but it also received a number of different upgrades that are worth noting.
The new V11 is powered by Dyson’s Hyperdymium motor, which spins at a whopping 125,000rpm to create even more powerful suction that the V10, including an extra 23% suction in Boost Mode. It too uses the same 14 cyclone design and whole-machine filtration as the V10 to ensure clean, fresh air throughout your home.
One of the biggest features of the V11 is the digital display located right on top of the bin. This display counts down how much battery life you have left, displays maintenance alerts, and more. So it’s super simple to quickly glance down at the bin while you’re cleaning and see what’s going on with your Dyson.

Unlike the V10 from above, neither Dyson V11 model comes with the cleaner head designed for hard floors. For both the V11 Complete and the V11 Extra, you’ll get the Motorbar cleaner head and a number of accessories, which slightly vary depending on which model you choose.
With the Complete, you get eight total tools and accessories, including the Dyson Floor Dok, which is a free-standing docking station that’s designed to store your vacuum and tools. With the V11 Extra, you’ll receive a wall-mounted docking station instead, as well as an extension hose, fabric and mattress tool, and an up-top adaptor.
As far as price goes, the V11 Complete is usually $699.99 and the V11 Extra is normally $649.99. The Complete comes with the Floor Dok, but the Extra comes with a few additional tools. It just depends on what you want more!
Dyson V10 vs Dyson V11: Which one should you buy?
Finding the right vacuum can make all the difference when it comes to cleaning up your house. If you were to just glance at the Dyson V10 and V11, you might think that the V11 is the obvious choice since it’s a higher-tier model, right? Well, that might not necessarily be the case, and it’s also more expensive than the V10.
The first thing you might want to ask yourself is which types of flooring you have in your house. If you want a vacuum that can handle both hard floors and carpet, then the Dyson V10 Absolute is the best choice due to having multiple cleaner heads.
But if you are someone that wants the most advanced model, then one of the V11s would be the better choice. I have to admit, the digital display on the V11 is pretty dang cool, and it might be worth upgrading for that alone. But you can’t go wrong with the V10 either.
